2007 Danie De Wet Limestone Hill Chardonnay

2007 Limestone Hill Chardonnay

Another good South African Wine came my way in the form of the Limestone Hill Chardonnay. The wine is unoaked, crisp and refreshing with hints of tart apple and grapefruit. It also carries a hint of minerality coming from the grapes being planted in Limestone soil (thus the name “Limestone Hill”.)  We rate Limestone Hill 2007 Chardonnay an 88. Get some today and enjoy!

Fleur du Cap 2007 Chardonnay is good and cheap

The Fleur du Cap 2007 Chardonnay is a nice “non-oaky” chardonnay with hints of peach, tropical fruit and firm acidity. Equally nice is the price at $9/ bottle. Fleur du Cap 2007 Chardonnay

I am always looking for the good quality inexpensive wine because it is easy to get a good wine for $40+

a bottle – the trick is finding something good at a fraction of the price and this wine is one of them.

South African Wine event was great

Many of the top wineries were represented, the venue was nice with a great view of the Bay and there were great wines to taste.  I tasted 25 of the 85 wines offered (I skipped all of the Pinotage varietal as I don’t like it) and will be back with a top 10 list once I finish organizing my thoughts.

South African Wine event

I am a huge fan of South African wine. Thier wine is very good and reasonably priced (probably because it is relatively unknown) and their wine county is some of the most beautiful in the world.

Thus I am really looking forward to the “Savor South Africa” event at Fort Mason this evening where they will be pouring 85 South African wines.

I will be back soon with my favorites and my picks.
